Dear
Snehi s ( friends)
At long last……. here is our SNEHA
NEWSLETTER, our house magazine which makes its appearance every
three months. We request you to please read it .Such a request is necessary
because I am told that busy scientists treat most of their not-true-scientific
–mail as junk mail and clean their tables without reading the
same. Of course since this is a Newsletter, it is essential that NEWS
keeps coming to us from North , East ,West and South. In other words
from Delhi, Kolkatta, Mumbai, Pune Vellore, Mysore and Across the seas
from Southampton.
The bottom line is that readers must make it
readable Do not be unnecessarily modest and keep your activities, achievements,
actions, troubles. Problems or whatever only to yourself, send them
to us for wider ( and private ) circulation through SNEHA Newsletter.
Suggestions too are very welcome.
After all, why have we named our organization
SNEHA and ourselves as SNEHIs?
Sincerely,
Ameya
Co Ordinator Sneha

Mohammed
Visits Mountain |
There
is a saying that if the mountain cannot visit Mohammad, Mohammad
will visit the Mountain. SNEHA group in Mumbai was very
happy to receive Prof Barker to visit their Maternal
Intervention project. Here is a brief report on
Professor Barker’s visit to MMNP Project.
|
|
Professor Barker took some time from
his busy schedule and made a flying visit to Mumbai to understand
the nitty-gritty's of the project, its progress
and experience for himself the beauty of Mumbai Maternal
Nutrition Project. He began his whirlwind visit by visiting
SNEHA-MRC’s Bandra Centre, Dr. Potdar, Dr. Parvez
and Dr. Nick explained to him the overall life cycle
of the project using flow charts. |
 |
After
this he visited nutrition dept to see how these supplements
are actually made. Dr. Subbulakshmi informed him in
depth as how these supplements are made.
Professor
Barker also went to see the SNEHA-MRC’s new
office and after having a lunch at MIG Club he visited
Streehitakarini to actually get a feel of how
supplementation
distribution takes place
Dr. Vijaya Taskar president of Streehitakarini
greeted him on his visit in and then he proceeded
directly to distribution center.
|
distribution
takes place and how the subject actually eat
the supplementation
Professor Barker was very much impressed by
the vast dynamics of the project and he suggested
that entire life cycles of the project should
be captured on video and some kind of documentary
should be made. |
