Dr. P. Raghupathy was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians
of Ireland in June 1999.
Dr P Raghupathy is working at present as Professor of Paediatrics and Paediatric Endocrinologist at the Christian Medical College and Hospital, Vellore. After postgraduate training in Paediatrics at Vellore, he underwent advanced specialist training in Paediatric Endocrinology for 3 years at the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children, Camperdown, Sydney, Australia. On return to India in 1986, he established the first-full fledged paediatric endocrinology service in South India at Vellore, which he heads now. He also served as a Senior Specialist in Paediatric Endocrinology for a period of 2 years at the Royal Hospital, Muscat, Sultanate of Oman, while away from Vellore on sabbatical leave.
His research interests cover a wide area in Paediatrics. His special areas of interest are: haemolytic-uraemic syndrome complicating bacillary dysentery in children, rehabilitation of malnourished children, precocious puberty, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, neonatal diabetes mellitus, childhood obesity and foetal origin of adult diseases.
