Graduated in Science (1983) and in Medicine (1989) from University of Mysore, Karnataka, India.

From 1989 to 1997 worked as Medical Officer at several Public health projects at New Delhi and Karnataka in the field of general medicine, leprosy, tuberculosis, epilepsy, cancer and community mental health. Job involved clinical work, training, fieldwork, supervision and administrative work.

Since July1997, working as project leader cum research coordinator of the research Centre, Holdsworth Memorial Hospital, Mysore, South India, in collaboration with Medical Research Council Epidemiology Resource Centre, Southampton, U K. The research centre is carrying out research studies on the maternal and fetal effects on the health of adults mainly the relation between fetal growth and coronary heart disease, Blood pressure and non-insulin dependant diabetes mellitus in South India. Job involves team leadership, clinical work, training, fieldwork and administrative work.
